The subjects of my paintings are usually people whom I somehow feel connected. My subjects are not engaged in dramatic action, they are at home, engaged in actions that connect across time and generations.
Drawing it what connects everything; ideas, themes people, and planning. The simple act of trying to draw something can change the way I look at the world. I usually draw before I paint, I love pattern and line the same way I love color and light. My children's illustrations are of memories and experiences. I am interested in how the pictures and the writing move through the pages and make "reading" a visual experience
The process of putting ink onto a block or plate and transferring it to paper is MAGIC! I embrace the surprise. How will the inks cover and the colors overlay? New tricks and tools are always arising and multiples offer the opportunity to try variations on a larger idea.
