Railroad Windows: Paintings on Glass
I needed some plexi glass, I went to the junk yard… While there I was given twenty train windows: How romantic, how sad (they melted the actual trains for scrap). These train windows invited me to play with the literal and more esoteric thoughts I have had about time and shadows. “what shadows we make and what we leave behind”. Emerson said, "A man is what he thinks about all day long." These paintings are about reexamining what I am made of: perhaps I am made of; the windows I have seen my life through… and of the music that is in my memory … Perhaps all we can hope to leave behind is a “shadow and a song”.
